City and regional councils (the local authorities) are among the most closed and non-transparent authorities in Ukraine. Their basic regulations often do not correspond to the current anti-corruption legislation – the regulation of council and executive committee, the provisions of the standing committees, charters of local communities and others.
Based on the previous work of the Center “Eidos” and the Institute “Respublika” the campaign “Active Community – Transparent Power” is launched. It is designed to help build a multi-level dialogue between the authorities and the community to prevent the corruption among the local and state authorities in Ukraine.
Aims:
- To increase the awareness among citizens and the local authorities in 3 cities of 4 regions of Ukraine regarding the methods and tools to prevent corruption in the authorities.
- To develop and promote mechanisms to prevent conflicts of interest in the 16 local authorities of 4 regions of Ukraine and monitor the implementation of anti-corruption reform.
- To establish cooperation between the community, public organizations and the authorities at various levels to counter the corruption.
