The main goal of the project is to reduce the corruption risks in the activity of the local authorities by creating conditions to increase the transparency of public administration and strengthen civil control to combating corruption, using as a tool the Law “On Access to Public Information”. During the project the implementation of the Law on Access by the local authorities and self-governing bodies was monitored, which formed the basis of the rating of transparency and openness.
Results:
- The Methodology of monitoring of the Law of Ukraine “On Access to Public Information” was developed together with public experts and the representatives of the central government;
- Monthly and annual ratings of the openness of the local authorities were prepared and published in regional and national media;
- There were discovered and sent to the prosecutor and senior managers about 400 complaints of unlawful refusals to provide public information requests;
- Citizens, journalists and civil servants have received advice of the experts of the Center on issues of access to public information through the site “Transparent Bureaucracy”;
- All relevant and timely information on access to public information was monitored daily and published on the site “Transparent Bureaucracy.”
